Tirúa - Arauco - Biobio, Chile

Tirúa is the southernmost coastal commune in the Arauco province, around ten hours by car south of Santiago. With a population of no more than ten thousand habitants, it’s a place that offers landscape views of the beautiful coastline along with the rural aspects, and hot springs in Quidico. However, the area is mainly characterised by its perfect bay, which being round with a rocky point and sandy reef helps make the lefthander safe and ideal for windsurfing. It’s a perfect spot for jumping with strong winds. It was a part of the International Windsurf Isla Mocha – Tirúa Traverse in 2012.

Tirúa Windsurf

It’s a very large sandy beach with a side shore wind component making it a very good spot for both jumping and waveriding. Tirúa is located in a very southern part of Chile and is one of the best options when the S wind drops for a week in central Chile, as the coastal trough is formed (a cloud which forms on the coast because of the heat from the inland). Due to this, Tirúa could be an option if you are in central Chile and there is no wind.
