Navidad - O'Higgins, Chile

In Navidad you’ll find Matanzas, an exposed reefbreak which has very consistent waves. It’s a world class spot with well known waves like ‘Roca Cuadrada’, and where events like the Surazo Windsurf Cup are celebrated. The best time of year is during the winter when the spot mainly works with gusty offshore wind at high tide, but it also works well near the shoreline with cross shore just north of the city.

The climate conditions, with winds of up to 30 knots, have transformed this place into one of the best options for riders that want strong wind. Each season there are more windsurfers there thanks to the good climate conditions, the quietness of the spot, not only when you’re sailing but also to enter and exit the water, as well as the incredible places and virgin nature, which you can see for yourself when you are there.

It’s a powerful and fast left with barrel sections. A low rising tide is best. The wind, which is side shore, often comes at around 11 am and starts to drop at 8 am. The first section breaks in front of some rocks and after it’s sandy but the wave picks up speed and becomes more vertical there. It is easy to get in and out as it's a sandy beach.
